PPA PHOTOGRAPHER OF THE YEAR AWARD - 2008 INTERNATIONAL PRINT COMPETITION - Once again this year, I entered the International Print Competition sponsored by the Professional Photographers of America (PPA).  All 4 of my entries (shown at right and below) earned "Merit" awards, and one of them ("Crayola Canal") was accepted into the prestigious PPA "Loan Collection" and will be published in a book along with the other 2008 Loan Collection images.  All of my 2008 entries will be on display at the 117th International Exhibition of Professional Photography in January 2009 in Phoenix, AZ, at which time I will be one of only four Colorado photographers to receive a PPA "Photographer of the Year" award. PUBLICATION IN A NATIONAL MAGAZINE - Each month, PPA selects a few Loan Collection images to publish in its monthly magazine, Professional Photographer.  I was delighted when my "Crayola Town Passage" image (see above) was selected for publication in the March 2007 issue!

PHOTOS SELECTED BY NEW HOSPITALS - In early 2007 there was a call for artists to submit their work for possible purchase by Colorado Springs' new Memorial North Hospital.  As a result, 10 of my prints were purchased and are now hanging in various parts of the hospital.  Also, in 2008, three of my prints were purchased for the lobby at the new Memorial Children's Hospital.

FIRST PLACE IN CRIPPLE CREEK PHOTO CONTEST - In November 2006 my photo of the Independence Mine near Victor won first place in the Professional Division of the Aspen Gold Photo Contest sponsored by the City of Cripple Creek - and earned a $1,200 prize!  (Click thumbnail to see larger image; use browser "back" button to return to this page.)

NAMED 2006 PHOTOGRAPHER OF THE YEAR - In October 2006, I entered 4 prints in the annual statewide competition among members of the Professional Photographers of Colorado (PPC).  One of the prints was "Road to a Rusty Ruin" shown above in connection with the 2007 PPA competition).  Much to my surprise, the panel of judges gave that print a score of 100 (on a 100-point scale) -- something that very rarely happens!  As a result, "Rusty Ruin" won "Best of Show" and also contributed to my earning the title of PPC's 2006 "Photographer of the Year".

MY FIRST ONE-WOMAN SHOWS - In August and September of 2006, about 25 of my photographs from Ireland were on exhibit at the Business of Art Center in Manitou Springs, CO.  I later had one-woman exhibits at the East Library in Colorado Springs in May 2007, and at the Monument Library in June 2007.
